More Curricular at the MORE TO Event

The third book in the MORE TO series is launching on the 30th of September 2023 in the Sky lounge at the Copthorne Tara Hotel, High Street Kensington.

As with the first two books, Kathryn Lord brings learning to life in a purposeful way. When organising family homes, the routine parents find most difficult is Mealtimes.

  • What should I make for tea every single night?

  • How can I get them to eat more vegetables?

You also find out how to learn about history, culture and music through food as well as the obvious maths, science and physical development when cooking.

We have got so much on for you at the event. Sing and dance with Action Amanda, enjoy music with the Music House for Children, get your sweat on with a family PT session and learn sign language with SENSE on our performance stage.

Head to our activity tables to practice your fine motor skills in guided sessions with food prep with Argania Moroccan Kitchen and mark make with More Curricular, who this blog is about.

Or enjoy our creative tables supported by Everything Childcare, with playdough, collage making and painting!

Tickets are just £10 for 2-7 year olds and they get an amazing goodie bag with a snack from V and Me, bubbles, reusable straw and so much more.

If that wasn't enough, we also have a MORE TO Marketplace, with passionate people who have child development at the heart of what they do. SEND, Nutrition, Photo Organising, parent app and a nanny agency, there really isn't anything we haven't though of.

How did More Curricular come about?

Have you ever been utterly baffled when a method you've trusted and relied on for years suddenly lets you down? That's exactly how I, Yvette, co-founder of More Curricular, felt when traditional studying techniques didn't aid my son in his exam preparation. This unexpected setback was a wake-up call for me, an educator with years of experience under my belt. I quickly came to realise that the landscape of education had drastically changed, with new, multi-disciplinary approaches incorporating insights from neuroscience, psychology, and health sciences. This crisis became a turning point in my life, leading me on an exciting journey of rediscovery and personal growth. I connected with a close friend and colleague, Andrew. Together, we dived into the world of educational research, learning, adapting, and reshaping our understanding, and our collective effort and shared vision led to the birth of More Curricular. More Curricular is more than just an organisation- it's a mission, a movement we call "learning to learn". We aim to bridge the gap between educational research and its practical application, making the latest learning techniques accessible to children everywhere. We have found innovative ways to deliver this information, from engaging workshops to user-friendly apps.

What do you think children get most out of More Curricular?

Children participating in More Curricular gain a multitude of benefits that go beyond conventional academic progress. They acquire powerful learning strategies from cutting-edge educational research, which they can apply across various subjects. It enables them to become more independent learners, fostering a sense of self-reliance and confidence in their own abilities. Furthermore, they learn to value the learning process, cultivating a lifelong love for knowledge and personal growth. Most importantly, More Curricular empowers these children with the tools they need to adapt and thrive in a rapidly evolving world, thus preparing them for a future filled with success and achievement.

How does it help family life easier?

More Curricular learning strategies and techniques enhance your child's academic progress and significantly ease family life. Parents often struggle to help their children with homework or revision, particularly in subjects that have evolved considerably since their schooling. Our courses equip students with effective study tools that enable them to work independently, reducing the need for parental assistance and thus easing potential tensions around homework. Additionally, our AI assessment apps provide tailored learning programmes, which means parents can trust that their child receives personalised attention, eliminating the stress of giving constant guidance. By cultivating independent learners, More Curricular contributes to a more harmonious and stress-free family environment.

What is next for More Curricular?

As we move forward, More Curricular is committed to innovating and expanding our educational offerings to enhance your child’s learning experience. We are currently researching and developing more interactive courses, walking tours, and apps that touch on various aspects of the curriculum and cater to diverse learning needs. Look out for a new walking tour exploring the origins of the East India Company and More Maths App v2.0 to be released in 2023.
